Access embedded object (e.g, Excel) within MS Project from VBA

I would like to embed a document, say an Excel workbook, in a note field in MS Project, and be able to access it from VBA.  This is similar to the InlineShapes concept for accessing embedded objects in Word.  Is there something similar to this in MS Project?  Or is there another way I can access, open, modify, run Excel macros and save an Excel file that is embedded in MS Project?  Thanks.
