With 28 individuals in-house Instrument schedules, a Mission schedule, and 7 external vendors schedules residing on our Local Share Drive network, we have pushed the limits of the External Link Functionality of the MS Project Professional desktop version. We are currently constaint to follow one of two options:
2) Work on the Network Share Drive:
MS Project crashes due to sheer volume of data (16GB of RAM)
Very long lead time for the complete IMS to open from share drive.
Limited productivity as only 1 individual can be in the live file at one time, locking other out.
2) Work on Local desktop copies
All files must be copied locally, as slack will not calculate properly unless all file comprising the IMS are on same local macjhine
Requires a large amount of a coordinated effort to ensure all schedule updates/changes are not lost by overwriting updated files with obsolete files.
