Bulk loading projects

Hi

We are currently migrating projects from a legacy system (DB2 based) to Project Server 2013.

The amount of projects to be migrated is about 100K.

The SharePoint farm that hosts Project Server is quite powerful:

  •         4 WFE servers
  •         2 APP servers

The current approach is to create a project with necessary data in Project Server by means of PSI (WCF client), publish and check it in.

Based on our tests, it takes about 30 sec to migrate one project to the Projects Server.

The time to read project data from the legacy system and prepare it to be loaded to Project Server is close to zero.

So, the whole project migration is going to take 0.5 min * 100,000 project = 50,000 min = 833 hour = 34 days

We’d like to shorten this time.

Could anybody advise us how to achieve that?

Do you think we could load data directly to PS Database for this particular case?

What other options available for bulk loading projects to Project Server 2013?

Thank you.
