Hi:
I'm using Project Server 2013 On Premises and I have the following requirement. At the initial phases of our project lifecycle, PMs only have tentative dates for the project as they are forecasting the rest of the year. So, we created a couple of fields called "Tentative Start Date" and "Tentative End Date" that the PMs fill in before they start to work on the project.
Our requirement is to have a dedicated view for projects in this stage that shows in the gantt chart, a bar going from Tentative Start Date to Tentative End Date for each project. I was looking into the "Gantt Chart Formats" option but the Custom Duration1..10 bars use Start1..10 and Finish1..10 local custom fields. That means that the PMs should open the project in Microsoft Project, modify Start1 and Finish1 fields and publish the project so we can use Custom Duration1 in the Gantt Chart. We want to minimize PM intervention for this task.
So, my questions are:
- Is it possible to use enterprise custom fields in the gantt chart in Project Server?
- Or is there a way to automatically calculate local custom fields like Start1 and Finish1 during Project creation or modification?
- We also want to avoid as much as possible custom development in our environment, but, is there any option using Javascript or C# to accomplish this?
Regards,
Gustavo
