Customizing standard reports

I am using MS Project Professional 2013 to manage an Engineering Departments workload using a trial version of 2013 for proof of concept.  I have several user defined fields (Text 1 - 5).  I also use the WBS field to establish a unique identifier for a group of subtasks. 

I want to use the upcoming task report to generate a task list that shows tasks that should be in work during a two day window.  I have set my report parameters up, but when I try and use the filter to return items which should start between two dates, the report does not show any actual filtering.   What am I missing.
